This month we are highlighting IPI Founding Member, Ghilotti Brothers, Inc. and its President, Michael Ghilotti.
Ghilotti Brothers was started in 1914 by James Ghilotti, and the company has prospered through three generations. Currently, Mike Ghilotti and his brother, Dante Ghilotti, run the construction company. Ghilotti Brothers took up the mantel of project partnering after a failed partnering session with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory project in 2004. Ghilotti Brothers is now an adamant proponent for Facilitated Project Partnering.
In an October 4, 2017 North Bay Business Journal article (10 North Bay Leaders in Commercial General Contracting) Mike stated, “Three important trends for the [construction] business are integrated project delivery, training and succession planning, and facilitated project partnering.”
Ghilotti Brothers believes so strongly in Partnering that they mandate Partnering on all projects with a budget greater than $1M in order to ensure success. In addition, Mike is such a passionate supporter of Partnering, he sits on the Executive Board of the Caltrans Partnering Steering Committee, is Co-Chairman of the San Francisco Partnering Steering Committee, and is a member of IPI’s Board of Directors.
In 2016, Ghilotti Brothers was named an IPI Partnering Ambassador and won a Sapphire IPI Partnering Award for their project, East Washington Park – Phase I in Petaluma. In 2017 Mike won IPI’s Chairman’s Award for Partnering.
